About Me
I'm Madilyn Tavares, or Maddie to everyone I know. I've spent 3 years writing professional code, and since May 2026 I've been studying the PERN stack (PostgreSQL, Express, React, and Node.js), starting with a intensive bootcamp and now taking wing with my newfound skills. I've also gotten my hands dirty with Astro and Next.js along the way.
Before all that, I spent several years as a gameplay programmer working in C#, mostly inside the Unity engine - a background that still contributes to how I design web code.
Outside of code, you'll usually find me buried in an epic fantasy novel, keeping a nervous eye on MLB wild card standings, or simply soaking up the lush vegetation of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Why "Human-First Design"?
I love technology, but I love the humans behind it even more. Behind every great invention, every small avatar, there is a person.* And I never want us to forget that. So in an age where generative AI drowns out most everything else, I want to champion human-first design, preserving the connection between clients and developers.
I respect your wishes; if you are okay with the usage of AI to help build your website, then I may use it during development. And if you prefer the no-AI approach, I have zero problem building your website with nothing but my own two hands (and the MDN documentation open in a handy browser tab).
I want every client to remember there's a real person behind the screen, a real person who cares about getting your project right. Everything will always receive a human's eye, a human's second opinion before delivery.
